Customer Buzz
Hotel Design is a professional magazine I have been reading for about three years. I once worked in the hotel industry and it was during this time that I became very familiar with the many periodicals that exist to help hotel managers and other employees find ways to run their hotels smoothly and efficiently. There are several professional magazines that deal with this type of business and many are offered free of charge. So, it was only a matter of time until my mailbox was overflowing with hospitality- related periodicals.

Among the many hotel/resort magazines I have read, Hotel Design ranks among the better ones. What I like about this magazine is its emphasis on the visual appearance of a hotel. Most other hospitality magazines focus on management, service, or both. There are very few that visit the subject of appearance. Hotel Design does just that, with plenty of decorative ideas and remodeling ideas designed to make a hotel more distinguished than its competitors.

The bulk of Hotel Design is dedicated to different items that make a hotel look great and that help form a lasting impression. There are articles about beds, couches, chairs, wallpaper, flooring, carpet, pictures, phones, lamps, and basically anything else that could make or break a hotel in the minds of its visitors. And when Hotel Design isn't promoting a complete makeover for hotels and other places of lodging, it is showcasing some of the world's finest hotels, providing readers with a chance to see some of these enhancements. I have found several potential vacation travel places by paging through these sections of the magazine.

Most of the improvements mentioned in Hotel Design are pretty costly and they may not be practical to the more budget- oriented places of lodging. The magazine is intended more for the medium to luxury level hotels. The remodeling ideas and improvements discussed are beyond the scope of the budget hotel brands, making Hotel Design a little impractical for many chains.

Overall, Hotel Design is a good magazine that I will continue to thumb through from time to time, even though I no longer work in this type of business. The photos of new hotels and new amenities along with the creative ideas for hotel decor make this a good choice of reading material for hotel personnel at all levels.
